ProPulmo mobile support app for physicians

About the company

AstraZeneca is a global research focused Biopharmaceutical company. Its key areas of research include oncology, cardiology, neurology, metabolic, respiratory and autoimmune diseases as well as rare diseases.

The company actively collaborates with medical institutions and implements projects aimed towards raising disease awareness and prevention. One such project is the ProPulmo app, which provides clinicians with vital information regarding COPD and asthma.

Tasks

Previously, the company had an existing app for doctors, but it no longer met the necessary requirements and had several drawbacks including bad user journeys and outdated design. The tasks we faced in creating the new application were:

1. Developing a new app that includes all the necessary functions;

2. Creating a modern and user-friendly interface for doctors;

3. Adapting the app's functionality to suit the workflows of doctors from various fields;

4. Reducing patient consultation time through the use of the app;

5. Improving the overall user experience.

Project features

• User privacy and information confidentiality: keeping personal user data private was critical.
• Each stage of the development process required several levels of approval and revision.  
• Extremely long user sessions in the app – on average these lasted up to 40-50 days.

Solution

Calculators

Calculators help doctors put together recommended patient dosage. Clinicians only need to enter the required variables to get the dosage for a specific patient.

Personal account

Contains basic information about the doctors and allows for modications, e.g. change of workplace or personal details. After updating this information, users accounts go through re-validation process.

Concise and clear design

One of the primary objectives of the project was to create an app design that would be convenient for doctors. We took into mind the fact that people of varying age groups and levels of experience working with such apps would be using ProPulmo. We also used simple shapes and colors to avoid overwhelming the interface and distracting users from the content.
